Galleria Dallas Built Its Holiday Season Around Four Weekday Hours

October 29, 2026

From Nov. 30 through Dec. 18, Galleria Dallas has something running at noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. every weekday. At each of those times, the 95-foot tree in Center Court runs its light-and-music show, and a local performing group takes the stage near Sephora on Level 1. Galleria's event pages list no ticket or reservation for either one.

The ticketed side of the season is set up differently. Santaland and SNOWDAY use dated, timed-entry reservations, charge different prices on different days, and warn that weekends close to Christmas can sell out. If you live a few minutes from the LBJ Freeway and Dallas North Tollway interchange, you can come back on short weekday visits. The schedule makes those visits easy to plan, and the weekend crowds are mostly coming for the ticketed attractions.

The Tree Goes Up Next Week, and Its Light Show Is New This Year

Local Profile reported that installation of the indoor tree begins Nov. 1 and should be finished by Nov. 5. The tree has 850 branches, more than 15,000 ball ornaments, 215,000 points of light and a 10-foot LED star on top. New this year, LED lighting from Twinkly adds animated light shows that change over the course of the season.

That lighting is what the Illumination Celebration runs on. Galleria lists the show from Nov. 27 through Dec. 24 at 12, 2, 4 and 6 p.m., visible from every level of Center Court. According to Galleria, the tree itself is "free to view for all visitors." The rink under the tree has its own Christmas-tree skating season, Nov. 5 through Jan. 4. Public skating costs $13, plus $5 for skate rental, and it's first-come, first-served with no reservations.

The Two Weekday Schedules Line Up

The local performances and the light shows use the same four start times. That's what makes a weekday visit work. The performances run Monday through Friday, Nov. 30 to Dec. 18, near Sephora. The Illumination shows run in Center Court at those same times. If you stop by at 2 or 4 p.m. on a Wednesday in early December, you can catch both on one trip.

Local Profile reported that more than 60 local groups are on the calendar, including the Lake Highlands Wildcats Wranglers, the Broadway Dallas Performance Ensemble, the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts Jazz Singers, Singing Girls of Texas and Alegre Ballet Folklorico.

Here's what the season looks like if you can visit on a weekday, with each event's dates and whether a ticket is listed:

Event Dates Times Where Ticket or booking listed
Tree viewing From Nov. 5 Not posted Center Court None; "free to view"
Illumination Celebration Nov. 27 to Dec. 24 12, 2, 4, 6 p.m. Center Court, all levels None listed
Holiday performances Mon. to Fri., Nov. 30 to Dec. 18 12, 2, 4, 6 p.m. Level 1 near Sephora None listed
Operation Kindness pet adoptions Nov. 27 to Dec. 24 Thu. to Sat. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sun. noon to 6 p.m. Level 1 near Banana Republic None listed
Official Tree Photo Nov. 13 to Dec. 27 Not posted Level 1, Center Court $10 per session

The tree photo is the one item in that table with a price. The Official Galleria Dallas Tree Photo is new this season. A $10 session covers up to three poses and up to six guests, digital photos are included, and prints cost $5 each. Galleria says booking ahead gets you into the priority line, which matters most on a busy weekend.

The Ticketed Side Is Cheaper Early in the Week

Santaland runs Nov. 13 through Dec. 24, and SNOWDAY runs Nov. 13, 2026, through Jan. 3, 2027. Both are on Level 1 near Banana Republic. On the ticket page, combos start at $24 per adult for the Classic package, $45 for Premium and $60 for Ultimate on Value dates, and prices change by date. Value dates fall on Mondays and Tuesdays, except during the week before Christmas. Booking Santaland and SNOWDAY together takes 15% off.

The SNOWDAY FAQ says weekdays are generally the least busy, except right before Christmas. The weekday advantage applies to the ticketed attractions too. Two new additions this year are a Magic Scavenger Hunt add-on inside SNOWDAY and The Tipsy Elf, a stop for snacks and drinks. The SNOWDAY site still shows some older seasonal wording, so check dates and prices in the live booking tool before you plan around them.

Several of Santaland's dedicated sessions fall on weeknights or quiet mornings:

  • Santa Paws: Wednesdays, Nov. 18 through Dec. 16, from 6 p.m. to close. Dogs need to be under 100 pounds, and tickets are required.
  • Spanish-Speaking Santa: All day on the Thursdays of Dec. 3, 10 and 17, booked through the Santaland reservation page.
  • Santa Cares: Sunday, Dec. 13, from 8 to 11 a.m. This is a private, sensory-supportive visit for children with special needs, and it's by appointment only.

Three Noon Tree Lightings, and the Busiest Saturday

On three days, Center Court adds a Grand Tree Lighting Celebration at noon: Friday, Nov. 27; Saturday, Nov. 28; and Saturday, Dec. 5. Each one has an ice-skating show with Olympic skaters, then Missile Toes, Galleria's backflipping skating Santa, and a fireworks finale. At least one published lineup lists the third show on Dec. 6. Galleria's official page lists Dec. 5, which is the Saturday.

The mall is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, and opens at 8 a.m. the next morning for the first tree lighting.

Saturday, Dec. 5, has the most going on at once. Besides the noon tree lighting, it's the last day of the Salvation Army Angel Tree. The Angel Tree starts Nov. 6 on Level 1 near Guest Services and ends with a drive-through gift drop-off on Dec. 4 and 5, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., on the driveway near Grand Lux Cafe. If you adopted an angel, the Friday drop-off window lets you deliver gifts without the Saturday tree-lighting crowd.

The next day, Sunday, Dec. 6, Temple Shalom leads the Menorah Lighting Celebration at 5 p.m. on Level 1 near Zara. The menorah will be lit each night through Dec. 11, the final night of Hanukkah. Local Profile reported that Kol Shalom, the temple's youth choir, will perform afterward and sufganiyot will be served.

Parking, and the North Side Work

Parking is free in Galleria's surface lots and garages. The Blue and Purple garages are closest to Santaland and SNOWDAY near Banana Republic. Check-in for advance tickets is designed to take 30 minutes or less, and guests are asked to arrive within 15 minutes of their scheduled time and to leave extra time for parking. Galleria's holiday hours page notes that department stores, restaurants and attractions may keep different hours from the mall.

The Grand Lux Cafe driveway is also where Galleria plans its next permanent change. Advocate's Preston Hollow edition and WFAA reported plans for a new customer entrance and North Plaza between The Westin Galleria Dallas and Grand Lux Cafe. The plans include landscaping, seating, an upgraded valet stand and a refreshed Grand Lux façade, with completion expected in the first quarter of 2027. Galleria hasn't posted any holiday parking or access instructions for that side. If you usually use the north valet, check before a weekend visit.

The new Tree Photo is the part of the season I'll be watching most closely. I spent years behind a camera before real estate, and an affordable, professionally shot family photo in front of a landmark is the kind of tradition people keep for years. If your family's holiday plans this year include getting a home ready to photograph for a listing, or settling into a new one in North Dallas, Sandy Mozur would be glad to help you plan the timing.
